Early life and education

Dana was raised in a Jewish family in Bloomfield Hills – her mother is a housewife while her father is a retired salesman, and she has a brother who served in the US forces in Afghanistan.

In one of her interviews, Dana stated how she was sexually abused twice by the family’s babysitter while she was still a child. Dana attended Andover High School in her hometown, before switching to Valley High School in West Des Moines in Iowa – upon matriculation, she enrolled at the University of Michigan, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communications in 1993. While there, she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Career as a journalist

As soon as she obtained her degree, Dana began working at the WPBN/WTOM-TV network in Traverse City, Michigan – she spent two years with them working as their fill-in news anchor, and a weekend sports anchor. She soon moved to Northern California where she reported on the Sacramento Kings professional basketball team’s players such as Mike Bobby, Jason Williams, and Chris Webber among others.

She started taking a greater interest in sports, and covered the National Football League (NFL) and National Basketball Association (NBA) for the KXTV-TV for which she worked as a weekend sports anchor – she was later promoted to host their “News10 Red Zone” TV slot. In 1996, she began hosting “Monday Night Football”, and stayed its host until 1998 before switching to KHTK – in 2000, she became the host of “The NBA Insiders” which is a weekly two-hour radio show and hosted it until 2002.

She joined ESPN Radio in 2005, and worked as a fill-in host for Dan Patrick who had his own radio show which aired weekdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time – she was also filling-in for Mike Golic in his own show “Mike and Mike in the Morning”.

Dana has been working for the CBS network for more than four years now, as she joined them in 2015, and is working for their CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network divisions – she can often be seen contributing to the “NFL Today” show, and is also the host of “We Need To Talk”.

While she was hosting CBS’s morning show on 11 October 2018, the show’s host Gayle King went on to announce that Dana was engaged – it was later revealed on the 98.5 radio in Boston called “The Sports Hub” that Dana was engaged to Sean Grande, who is the Boston Celtic’s play-by-play announcer. The two married on 28 September 2019 in New York.
